King of Steel Media has worked very hard ensuring that projects are not only acceptable but of a high artist standard. It has been very clear from the start that the CS series is a Custom Series, unofficial and for fans of movies. Custom Steelbooks and slipcovers are universally accepted by the collecting community and many individuals have had custom steelbook businesses and have been very successful. We have done our research and as long as certain criteria is met, custom projects are perfectly acceptable.

However it seems someone in their spite has reported our Godzilla project to Toho studios as if the project is an official distribution project. It has been clear from the beginning that it is an unofficial custom and purely a KOSM original creation with only our logo, no studio logos or affiliation or even discs. We have also paid an artist to the rights to use artwork for the project! Besides this we were also making arrangements to get the distribution rights for discs.

However despite all of this, a legal representative from Toho has reached out to us and have warned us that even as a Custom project or a fan art project they forbid us to proceed with the project or face legal consequences. This is very sad news considering that hundreds of custom projects are produced by Physical media collectors each year.

We are very sorry to all those that have been looking forward to this project as much as us, however we do not wish to rock the boat with Toho studios. Sadly we will no longer be able to proceed with this project and all customers will be immediately refunded.

지난 3월 5일, 영국 "킹 오브 스틸 미디어"측에서 프리오더중이던 <고지라 마이너스 원>의 스틸북 발매가 공식적으로 무산되었습니다.

해당 제품은 커스텀 스틸북으로 300개 한정으로 제작 예정이었고, 디스크 없이 스틸북과 캐릭터카드, 포토북등만이 수록되어 발매 예정이었으나, 라이선스를 받지 않고 비공식으로 제작되던 굿즈였던것이 토호측의 귀에 들어가 제제가 가해진 것으로 보입니다.

프리오더된 모든 제품은 환불되었으나, 사측에서는 "원래부터 팬 프로젝트였으며 해당 제품에는 스튜디오 로고등도 전혀 부착되어있지 않다. 매년 수백개의 커스텀 프로젝트가 물리매체 애호가들을 위해 만들어지는데 우리만 제제받다니 다소 억울하다"는 이야기도 상단 입장문에 개제되어 있습니다.

본 제제에 앞서, 1월 4일 토호측은 트위터를 통해 "해당 스틸북의 발매에 대해 우린 들은 바가 없는 가짜뉴스"라는 트윗을 남긴적도 있었습니다.

<고지라 마이너스 원>의 정식 4K 디스크 및 블루레이 디스크, 스틸북등은 현재 일본에서만 5월 1일 발매를 목표로 프리오더하고 있습니다. Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos 수록 예정이며 수록자막은 일본어 1개가 끝입니다. (스틸북은 일본 아마존 전용 특전입니다.) 아직 국내 개봉은 커녕, 수입 소식도 없는 해당 영화를 5월에 미리 접해보고 싶으신 분들이라면 구입을 추천드립니다.

최근, 블루레이 게시판등을 통해 중국등지에서 디스크 없이 스틸북과 껍데기만 발매하는 제품군에 대한 소식이 점점 자주 들려오고 있습니다. (MAG MPM, 만타랩 등)

모든 제품이 그렇다는 이야기가 결코 아닙니다만, 이러한 제품을 구입하실때 "실제 라이선스를 받고 발매하는 제품인지"에 대한 확인이 반드시 필요해 보입니다. 이미 시중에 유통중인 디스크가 포함되지 않은 스틸북중 비라이선스 제품들이 있는것으로 확인됩니다. 디스크가 없는 제품군은 라이선스 절차가 실제 물리매체 발매에 비해 훨씬 간단하고 이에 따라 단속이 적다보니, 고퀄리티의 제품이라 안심하고 구매했다가 의도치 않게 비라이선스 제품군을 만날 확률이 매우 높습니다.

이를 방지하기 위해 구입 이전, "Custom Steelbook" 내지는 "Fan Project"등의 문구가 판매 페이지에 명시되어 있는지 반드시 체크하시기 바랍니다.
